The versatile dish can be enjoyed any time of the day, breakfast, lunch or dinner and makes for a wholesome meal favoured by people of all age groups. World Pasta Day 2024: History and significance
World Pasta Day was first introduced in 1955 by the then top 40 producers of pasta globally who had gathered together to host the first World Pasta Congress. Ever since then, the day has become a loved food holiday for all foodies and lovers of the Italian dish who now have a great excuse to indulge in a heartwarming bowl of pasta guilt-free! The World Pasta Congress celebrates the day to promote cultural diversity of pasta while educating people about it's origin and rich heritage.
Why one-pot pasta is the best?
One-pot pasta is a great option for those who are first getting into cooking or lead busty leaves or are just too lazy to do the dishes- take your pick! They make for great meal options for the hectic days when you don't have time to cook a number of different things. Since there are fewer dishes to clean after the meal, the winding process is also easier in one-pot pasta.
Additionally, it gets ready much quicker than traditional pasta where you have to allocate separate time for first boiling the pasta and then making the sauce. So, if you are short on time or your hunger pangs are getting out of control, try this easy recipe for a creamy and delicious bowl of pasta which requires almost no effort or wait!
Easy recipe for one-pot pasta
Ingredients
225g dry pasta (penne, fusilli, spaghetti - literally any shape will do! You can experiment with the type as well - wheat or quinoa pasta also pairs well)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
? tsp black pepper
? tsp paprika
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 medium-sized onion (chopped)
1 cup broccoli florets
1 cup spinach
1 cup red bell pepper/capsicum (chopped)
1 cup tomato paste
2 cups water
? cup milk
Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Take a large and deep pot which can be covered with a lid. Add all the ingredients to the pot, starting with the pasta, then the vegetables, followed by the seasonings and lastly the liquid ingredients aka tomato paste and the milk.
- Now stir the ingredients slowly and gently till the water starts to boil. Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat and cover the poy to cook for about 12 minutes.
- Keep stirring the pasta after every few minutes in between to ensure even cooking.
- Cook the pasta to al-dente and then immediately take it off the heat. Take and adjust the seasonings.
- Garnish with fresh basil, serve it into bowls and Enjoy!
