A man has sparked outrage after a photograph of him riding a crocodile like a surfboard in a river in Australia went viral.
The photo shows the barefoot man, having managed to tie the rope around the massive reptile's mouth, making manoeuvres in the murky waters holding onto the crocodile with a make-shift lead.
In the image, he can be seen recklessly balancing on the crocodile's back while his friends watch from a nearby boat.
The image was originally uploaded to Reddit alongside a caption claiming it was 'most Aussie photo I have'.
It has caused a fury in the country with animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) slamming the man, saying he was ¡°looking for attention¡±.

¡°If this stunt is the ¡®most Aussie thing ever¡¯, we should be ashamed,¡± PETA spokeswoman Emily Rice was quoted as saying by news.com.au.
¡°Animals are not surfboards, and we should no more be applauding a person who ¡®surfs¡¯ on a crocodile than we should applaud jockeys who whip horses or marine park trainers who torment dolphins," she added.

¡°Already in Australia, crocodiles are exploited as tourist spectacles, their nests are raided for eggs so that their babies can be raised on filthy factory farms, and they¡¯re mercilessly slaughtered so that foreign fashion houses can turn their skins into handbags," Emily said.
There has been no information about whether the man was injured in any way, shape or form from the stunt and there's no word on what happened to the crocodile.
