When environmental quality analyst and drone pilot Hunter King was mapping shoreline erosion near Escanaba in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a Phantom 4 Pro Advanced quadcopter from 162 feet in the air, the drone was attacked by the bird of prey, sending the drone plummeting into Lake Michigan, reports LadBible.
King had only been flying the drone for seven minutes when he started to experience reception difficulties. He pressed the button to recall the device to its point of origin.
The drone, worth $995 (Approx Rs 70,000) was making its return journey at a speed of 22 miles per hour, when it was attacked by the eagle and sent into a downward spiral.
It took 3.5 seconds to crash into the water and during that time it sent 27 warning notifications, including one relaying that a propeller was missing.
