Cannabis Sold On Streets Of Madrid Contains 'Dangerous Amount Of Faecal Matter,' Study Claims

In what's going to be a shocker for pot-heads, a study has revealed that cannabis that's being sold on the streets of Madrid contains 'dangerous levels of faecal matter.'

According to reports, Jos¨¦ Manuel Moreno P¨¦rez, a pharmacologist from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, collected hashish samples (also referred to as hash or resin) directly from street dealers, both in the city and the surrounding suburbs.

The samples were separated into either 'acorns' or 'ingots', which are the shapes they are bought in.

Of the 90 samples tested by analysts found that 93% of the 'acorn-shaped' samples and 29.4% of the ingot samples contained alarming levels of E.coli bacteria. Almost 10% of the samples contained the Aspergillus fungus. According to the study, the risks associated with E.coli and Aspergillus are serious. The E.coli infection, for example, can cause diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pains, fever, and blood in faeces.

In other words, the samples collected from the streets were found to be unfit and extremely dangerous for human consumption.

Each sample was then broken down into smaller pieces and looked at under a microscope, the authors write in the journal Forensic Science International.

¡°Most of the hashish sold in Madrid is not suitable for human consumption, mainly due to microbiological criteria, and represents a danger to health,¡± he concludes in his study, published in the journal Forensic Science International.
