Dog Chews Through Over Rs 3 Lakh Cash, Leaving Owners With 'Almost A Heart Attack'
The couple claimed Cecil had never before shown any interest in the objects on the counter or torn them down.
A pet dog recently turned from a friend to an unforeseen financial enemy, chewing a staggering Rs. 3.32 lakh of its owners' hard-earned money.
The owners described their struggle as heart-stopping when they saw the shredded cash, expressing their state of shock and worry.
The owners desperately attempted to save their little money as panic set in.
The dog's antics took the family aback, so they devised a remarkable scheme to get their hard-earned money back.
Who Is This Dog?
The dog named 'Cecil' is a Goldendoodle from Pennsylvania.
What Exactly Happened?
Cecil had put his owners, Clayton and Carrie Law, into a financial bind due to the unanticipated and expensive turn of events.
Leaving $4,000 (about Rs 3.32 lakh) on the kitchen counter seemed like a harmless gesture, but Cecil had other ideas and used the money meant for a contractor to prepare himself an unexpected feast.
Early in December, Clayton Law threw an envelope full of cash on the kitchen counter of their Pittsburgh home, setting off a strange chain of events.
He had no idea Cecil would turn their home into a financial war zone in half an hour, leaving a jumble of torn bills in his wake.
"Suddenly Clayton yelled to me, 'Cecil's eating $4,000!'" Carrie Law said this in an interview with the Pittsburgh City Paper, recalling the startling incident.
Startled by Cecil's sudden penchant for cash, the Laws found the crumbs of their financial disaster everywhere.
After a brief phone call to Cecil's veterinarian, the Laws learned that their money-sucking pet would need housekeeping.
Cecil was sleeping off the effects of his lavish dinner, but the Laws had a tedious and uncomfortable chore ahead of them: piecing together the torn notes that had been found among his vomit and droppings.
Carrie recalled, "There we are at the utility sink."
The pair talked about their difficult battle to save the ruined notes. It had an awful scent."
Taping together shredded $50 and $100 notes and recording serial numbers for future bank transactions was laborious.
The Laws tried hard but were unsuccessful in getting $450 back.
Their situation is not unusual; other reports of dogs gobbling up cash have surfaced over time, such as the one from 2022 in Florida involving a Labrador that ate $2,000.
Now, the Laws are dealing with the fallout from Cecil's expensive adventure, a story that gives canine capers a strange new dimension.
