Elon Musk Says Aliens Built Pyramids, Egyptian Authorities Ask Him To 'Come, Check Them Out'
The SpaceX boss had tweeted what appeared to be support for conspiracy theorists who say aliens were involved in the colossal construction effort.
Egypt has invited Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit the country's famous pyramids after his bizarre tweet.
Elon Musk had recently shared a tweet that seemed to support conspiracy theorists who claim that the pyramids of Egypt were built by alien life forms.
He also substantiated his claim, by quoting Wikipedia. It's not clear as to what prompted Musk to make this statement on Twitter - while some think it's just sarcastic, others are pretty convinced that it's one of Tesla CEO's infamous 'weird and ambiguous tweet' episode.

The statement, however, left Egypt top government officials and historians miffed. Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation, Rania A Al Mashat, quote tweeted Mr Musk and extended an invitation to the country. She asked Mr Musk to visit the tombs of the builders who constructed the ancient structures.
"I follow your work with a lot of admiration. I invite you & Space X to explore the writings about how the pyramids were built and also to check out the tombs of the pyramid builders. Mr. Musk, we are waiting for you," she wrote.

Musk did later tweet a link to a BBC History site about the lives of the pyramid builders, saying: "This BBC article provides a sensible summary for how it was done." There are more than 100 surviving pyramids but the most famous is the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt - standing at more than 450ft (137m). Most of them were built as tombs - a final resting places for Egypt's royalty.

Acclaimed Egyptian Egyptologist Zahi Hawass refuted Musk¡¯s false and unproven claims saying, "I found the tombs of the pyramids builders that tell everyone that the builders of the pyramids are Egyptians and they were not slaves. Also the Wadi al-Jarf papyrus, that tells us for the first time about Khufu and building the pyramid," Egypt Today quoted.

Apart from the Pyramid controversy, Musk was on the news again for Space X astronauts splashdown on Earth. It was the first splashdown by U.S. astronauts in 45 years, and the first commercially built and operated spacecraft to carry people to and from orbit. The astronauts returned to Earth in a dramatic, retro-style splashdown, their capsule parachuting into the Gulf of Mexico.
