Germany: Nurse Accused Of Injecting 8,600 People With Saline Solution Instead Of Covid Vaccine
The anti-vaccine nurse is accused of injecting a salt solution into people's arms instead of real dosages at a vaccination centre in Friesland, a rural area near the North Sea coast.
We all know someone or the other who thinks that the vaccine is a hoax. They not only are against the idea of injecting the vaccine against coronavirus but also push other people to not get jabbed.
One such 'anti-vax' nurse is accused of injecting more than 8,000 people with a useless saline injection instead of the Covid vaccine.
This nurse from Red Cross is suspected of injecting a harmless salt solution into people's arms instead of genuine doses at a vaccination centre in Friesland.
After this was revealed, authorities in northern Germany have now appealed to thousands of people to get another jab.
While a saline solution is not harmful, most people who got vaccinated in Germany in March and April - when the suspected switch took place are elderly people who are at high risk of catching the disease.
Sven Ambrosy, a local councillor, said on Facebook as local authorities issued the call on Tuesday to about 8,600 residents who may have been affected. He said, ¡°Today I had the sad duty to inform around 8,600 people who may have been affected that it cannot be ruled out they may have received a saline solution instead of their vaccination at their vaccination appointment. "For peace of mind, we would recommend people get an additional vaccination.¡±
The nurse was able to replace the vials because she was ¡°responsible for the preparation of vaccines and the preparation of syringes during her working hours in the vaccination centre,¡± health authorities in Lower Saxony said.
Police investigator Peter Beer, speaking earlier at a news conference covered by German media, said that based on witness statements there was ¡°a reasonable suspicion of danger¡±.
The motive of the nurse, who has been not named, was not clear but it's reported that she voiced sceptical opinions about vaccines on social media.
CBS News reports that after the incident, authorities carried out antibody tests on more than 100 people who had visited the vaccination centre that day. They were also invited to receive a follow-up inoculation because it was no longer possible to trace to who the six syringes had been administered.
During the police investigation, it was said that there were increasing fears that a much larger group might have been affected. ¡°The investigations of the police have shown the person (involved) was motivated to oppose the vaccination."
According to the authorities, the case involves vaccinations administered between March 5 and April 20 at specific times.
