Customs officers at a US airport have confiscated a box of giraffe waste after a woman attempted to enter the country with it to construct a necklace. Upon being chosen to have her belongings searched upon her arrival at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport in Minnesota on September 29, the woman declared the little box of faeces, according to US Customs and Border Protection.

"There is a real danger with bringing faeces into the US," said LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, a field director for US Customs and Border Protection.
"If this person had entered the US and had not declared these items, there is a high possibility a person could have contracted a disease from this jewellery and developed serious health issues."

Among the diseases customs officials have listed as threats in Kenya are swine vesicular disease, African swine fever, classical swine fever, Newcastle disease, foot-and-mouth disease, and Newcastle disease.
