On January 13, passengers on an AirAsia Thailand trip from Bangkok to Phuket received an unexpected and slithery surprise.
What was found on the flight?
A live snake was discovered in the overhead luggage bin of Flight FD3015 after it took off from Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport.
The finding sparked concern among the passengers as the little reptile was seen crawling along the cabin lights above the compartments.
Who tried to capture it?
A video of the unusual episode went viral on social media, depicting the snake's appearance in the cabin and a flight attendant's attempts to safely capture it. Initially utilizing a water bottle, the crew member eventually switched to a waste bag to hold the snake.
The footage elicited reactions from users, with one user noting the striking resemblance to sequences from the video Snakes on a Plane.
How did the airline react?
AirAsia Thailand confirmed the event, stating that their crew was warned before the jet landed in Phuket. Phol Poompuang, the airline's chief of corporate safety, told CNN that such instances are exceedingly unusual and that flight attendants are properly prepared to handle them.
"Before resuming operations, the aircraft was thoroughly cleaned and fumigated, as is routine protocol for such incidents.
The safety and well-being of our guests and workers is always our top priority, and their safety was never jeopardised," Poompuang stated.
