Bride and groom are expectedly on edge on their wedding day- all the nervousness and whatnot, therefore chances of things going wrong or someone getting cold feet are higher than one might think.
A drunk groom did not reach the wedding venue on time and things took an interesting turn.
Here's what happened next - Instead of being the 'jilted bride', the woman left the ¡®mandap¡¯ being wedded, even if it was to a relative. So¡she married one of her relatives. The incident occurred in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra.
The wedding was scheduled to take place on April 22 in Malkapur Pangra village in the Buldhana district. And as you would expect, all the preparations had been carried out and the auspicious time for the wedding ceremony was kept at 4 pm.
However, the bride and her family kept waiting but there was no trace of the groom till 8 pm in the evening. It is said that the groom and his friends kept on dancing and drinking. They didn't get the memo, probably!
"The groom and his friends were drunk and came to the mandap at 8 pm instead of 4 pm and started fighting. We got my daughter married to one of our relatives," the bride¡¯s mother told India Today.
When the groom did arrive at the mandap, four hours late, the bride's father refused to get his daughter married.
The bride's father wanted to find a groom among the guests present at the venue and unexpectedly, they found a suitable one who agreed to marry his daughter.
"The wedding ceremony was supposed to be on April 22, the groom¡¯s side were busy dancing. The wedding time was at 4 pm but they reached the venue at 8 pm. So, I got my daughter married to one of my relatives," the bride's father told India Today.
