Man Uses Google Earth To Locate Childhood Neighborhood, Discovers Missing Dead Body Instead
Most individuals get a taste of how the previous owners used their house or what the new tenants did with their old one, but one man received a lot more than he bargained for when perusing his former area on Google Earth.
Since Google Earth went online in 2005, almost everyone who has ever been on the internet has used it to look up their own home. Aren't we a curious species? Most individuals get a taste of how the previous owners used their house or what the new tenants did with their old one, but one man received a lot more than he bargained for when perusing his former area on Google Earth.
Who was missing?
William Moldt was reported missing from Lantana, Florida, in November 1997 after not returning from a night of clubbing, leaving his family devastated.
The 40-year-old's girlfriend, who 'did not appear inebriated' when he left the venue, was expecting him home, and he had last texted her around 9.30 pm on that fateful evening to let her know he would be there shortly.

Little did she realize, it would be the final time she spoke to William. An inquiry into the US man's disappearance was initiated, but the trail quickly fell cold because authorities had few leads to work with.
When did the man discover the dead body?
More than two decades had passed before the case was blown wide open by a man snooping around his old neighbourhood.
The man was looking at satellite imagery on Google Earth when he noticed something wasn't quite right.
After zooming in on the lake near his previous house, he observed what appeared to be an automobile. He then told a local resident, who confirmed his suspicions using a drone.
All these years, a white automobile had been sunk in the water behind a row of houses in Moon Bay Circle, Wellington, containing William's remains.
How was the body identified?
After informing authorities, cops arrived on August 28, 2019, to examine the bizarre discovery before hauling the 'heavily calcified' white vehicle out of the lake and discovering the missing man's skeleton remains inside.

A week later, it was determined that the remains belonged to William. The man who discovered the car told local journalists at the time, "Never did I believe there would be a 22-year-old dead body."
