Man Makes A Bomb Hoax Call & Stops Delhi-Bengaluru Train Just Because He Was Upset With The Catering Staff
According to the SP, Satyanand, the accused, made the phone call to Railways Helpline 139 as he was unhappy with the behaviour of a catering staff towards his brother.
Professionalism is not really what Indians are known for. Especially when it comes to travelling, courtesy or empathy is not really something that is practised by fellow travellers.
But going the extra mile to stop the train just because of a caterer's bad attitude is a little too much. This is something that happened in a New Delhi-Karnataka express train on Tuesday night after police received a call regarding a bomb being present on the train.
That's right! The passengers on the train were filled with panic and commotion after hearing this news and it is quite natural. But surprisingly, this news was fake.
An alert on the call was received by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Karnataka from the Railway Control Room in Agra on Tuesday evening. According to the New Indian Express, the man who called mentioned that one of his male relatives on board had explosives in his possession.
The man said, "As soon as the Karnataka Express enters the state¡¯s border, there will be a blast, which will kill a maximum number of passengers."
Soon after the call was made, the Bomb Disposal Squad, the Railway Protection Force and the GRP along with sniffer dogs reached the Kalaburagi station, which falls within SWR limits.
A top railway source told NIE, "The train was thoroughly checked. An alert was issued to all the stations en route. The train later enters Andhra Pradesh, and re-enters Karnataka at Hindupur. Massive checks were carried out at Hindupur station too. The checks continued until the train reached KSR Railway Station at 1.40 pm on Wednesday."
The 12628 Delhi-Karnataka Express was also stopped for 25 minutes at Mathura Junction at night and thoroughly checked. It was given a go-ahead only after the Government Railway Police (GRP) was convinced that there was nothing suspicious, Superintendent, of Police Mathura (City) Martand Prakash Singh said on Wednesday.
Later the police came to know that the accused named Satyanand made the phone call to Railways Helpline 139 as he was unhappy with the behaviour of a catering staff towards his brother. An official said the call was transferred to the Railway Protection Force control room which in turn passed on the information to the teams concerned.
¡°Since Satyanand is highly intoxicated, he will be further interrogated later,¡± a GRP official said. He was arrested from a night shelter home on Delhi¡¯s Aruna Asaf Ali road.
