For the uninitiated, the Ugadi festival is the beginning of the Telugu New Year. People celebrate the festival of Ugadi by indulging in delicacies and also by drinking ¡®Pachhada,¡¯ a mixture of six tastes including sweet, hot, vinegar, bitter, and so on.
The famous festival is also known as Samvatsar¨¡di and is the New Year's Day for the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka in India. It is festively observed in these regions on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Chaitra.
