A 25-year-old man from Bihar has a life-threatening condition where he sheds skin every week.
This man identified as Majibar Rehman Malik, suffers from erythroderma, a severe and potentially life-threatening inflammation of the skin. In this condition, a person has red flaky skin which is also known as 'red man syndrome.'
Majibar's condition started right after his birth. He's been shedding skin every week since then. In winters, his skin gets so dry that it cracks. After visiting the doctor in his hometown in Bihar, he was advised to go to a bigger hospital for treatment ¨C but due to financial difficulties, his family has been unable to facilitate his medical needs.
Even though the man loved going to school, his education was cut short because students got scared of him.
He shared a video diary of sorts which showed his daily life. He begins by brushing his teeth, before bringing the camera up close to his face which reveals his cracked skin and red eyes.
He then eats his meal and takes his shirt off to show the shedding of his skin. His skin appears wrinkly, dry, cracked and sensitive.
He has made his illness his strength and asked people to never give up. He says he no longer cares about anybody else¡¯s opinions and has been encouraged by his family and friends to live his life to the fullest.
