New York Local Finds Starbucks Food Discarded In Trash Bags On Streets, Restocks Her Entire Pantry

Back in 2020, Starbucks promised its customers, who were concerned about the company's blatant disposal of perfectly-good food and untouched supplies, that they would stop irresponsibly discarding unsold food in trash bags. However, it seems some strings have come loose on that pledge.

Anna Sacks, who goes by the name ¡®the trash walker¡¯ on TikTok, took to the platform once again to show people how Starbucks is still at it. Former investment banker now turned into a waste reduction consultant, Sacks filmed a Starbucks outlet in New York that disposed of its perfectly untouched packaged food in large black trash bags on the street.

According to the Twitter user that reposted Sack's video online, the Starbucks outlet was allegedly closing down which seems to have prompted the employees to discard all the food, coffee beans, cups, and even gift cards on the streets of New York.

Sacks filmed a closed-down outlet of the company and alleged that it used to be a Starbucks on the upper west side of New York. In the clip, she jokes about her ¡°spider senses tingling¡± so she checked out the place, and lo and behold she found bags of food trashed away on the street.

The TikToker rummaged through the food and noted how the packaged frozen bits were still cold insinuating that they were recently put out by the outlet. Even the expiry dates stamped on the frozen food were telling that the food was good to be eaten by October of 2023, still good for consumption for months to come.

While stocking up on the supplies, Sacks exclaimed, ¡°I¡¯m gonna have eggs for days.¡± She also informed me that she was leaving the meat products behind for her friends to come by and stock their freezers. Along with surplus food, the trash walker also found a sack full of roasted coffee beans, which might have been the biggest shock of all the other discarded products.

A New York Starbucks closed down, and someone walking by outside found a pile of trash bags filled to the brim with food, coffee, and supplies.

Besides the food, there were also trash bags full of unused Starbucks cups, stirring sticks, gift cards, and a ¡°million napkins.¡± Sacks hit the gold mine when she found the bakery products also stuffed in the bags. She eventually took some of the supplies home and restocked her pantry for free.

In 2016 the company announced the ¡°FoodShare¡± program, revealing plans to donate their unsold food from 100% of US stores. In a press release, a Starbucks brand manager said, ¡°When we thought about our vast store footprint across the US and the impact we could make, it put a fire under us to figure out how to donate this food instead of throwing it away.¡± However, it seems the company is not able to fulfil its promise to customers.
