In an incident that took place in a amusement park in Poland, a 39-year-old man was attempting a stunt that involved jumping off a crane while being attached to a bungee cord.
But mid-air, the cord snapped all of a sudden, and made him free fall onto a large air cushion where his jump was aimed at.
In the video, people who witnessed the accident can be heard gasping and screaming as he took the plunge down.
While a huge air cushion might seem like it can break your fall, in this case it broke the man's spine.
After the video sent shockwaves online, the Bungeeclub put out a statement on Facebook which read, 'The health of the participant of the unfortunate jump is [in] no serious danger.'
'After a medical examination at the emergency room he was considered good. Therefore, until 00:30 p.m. [local time], he was not admitted to the hospital ward.'
Local reports state that the man hurt his spine while landing on the cushion and bounced off. His spinal cord was miraculously unaffected, allowing him to move and escape more serious injury.
The club maintains the man never broke any vertebrae in his spine, 'He did not break his spine. We use professional skokochronu, so-called ¡®pillows,¡¯ and it was because of this and our foresightedness that there was no tragedy.' their Facebook post reads.
Radio Gda¨½sk reported that the police found a crack on the bungee line but this wasn't the only confirmed cause of the accident.
The officers were also informed that the man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the moment of the jump.
In an incident very similar to the one above that took place last year, a Chinese tourist attempted to jump across a dangerous bridge in China nearly 500 foot from the ground, only for the safety rope to break.
The Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park in central China is quite a popular tourist destination. Among many attractions, the high-altitude theme park is famous for its gap bridge, which is positioned over 150 meters (500 feet) above the ground.
After the video started doing the rounds online, authorities had no choice but to shut down the park out of safety concerns.
