Which Way Is The Chair Facing? This Optical Illusion Will Make You Doubt Your Mind

The Internet loves nothing more than a mind-bending optical illusion. Remember the 'floating' cat picture? The case of a jumper changing colours? Or a 'headless' security guard?

The confusing picture was posted on Reddit by a user who posts under IranianGenius.

The image shows a black chair in the middle of a white room. It all seems straightforward until it doesn't.

Then reality strikes! A man comes in from out of the shot, and sits in the chair - and it is from a completely different angle than which we thought the chair is facing. Yeah, we ain't meant for this s***.

How can it be?

According to Dezeen, the chairs were created by the French design studio Ibride.

The only logical explanation for the illusion shows that the chairs were intentionally designed to appear warped and uneven.

However, when seen from a specific angle, our eyes are tricked because their silhouettes resemble classic designs.

The unique collection called Hidden Chairs by Ibride is made up of three beech plywood chairs each based on a historical design.

Recently, an optical illusion featuring a staircase that twists and turns to seem like it's working from both sides went viral. There is an object placed on the staircase and people can't tell which direction it is travelling in.

Called the 3D Schr?der Staircase, the illusion will leave your head hurting.

In its traditional 2D illustration, a staircase is seen from above. The image is then rotated and it turns out to be two staircases (the other seen from below).

In the 3D version of the illusion, created by Japanese mathematician Kokichi Sugihara, an object is placed on the staircase.

Initially, the object appears to be at the top of the stairs. But then the interpretation switches when the object is rotated by 180 degrees.

The object, which looks like it is stationed on the top step, suddenly appears as if it's on the bottom step. Please, don't do this to us!
