Reddit user refuses to give up his plane seat to family
This Reddit user u/Unlikely-Strategy596 shared his story on the forum and asked people whether what he did was insensitive. He explained how flying around this time of the year is ¡°extremely hectic,¡± due to which they made advance arrangements for this flight.
¡°I booked my ticket specifically to be closer to the front of the plane so I can be closer to the gate when it¡¯s time to get out. I personally hate travelling so I spent a bit more money to be closer,¡± wrote the user.
As soon as the man boarded the flight, a family member came to him and asked if he would swap seats with them.
¡°Normally I¡¯d be okay with that but switching spots would mean moving back 20 rows down which leaves me at an inconvenience and I would not be getting my money¡¯s worth,¡± the flyer said. So, the passenger turned the request down.
¡°The woman said that I was being an a*****e and I should just give up my seat so she could sit with her husband and kids (ouch right in front of her kids too).¡±
The passenger then put up his point that if staying with family was important, she should have booked seats in advance or paid extra for it.
The woman made a scene about this and made him look like he should be guilty. The user now asked everyone if he made the right decision.
People praised the Reddit user for standing up for himself.
People on the internet thought what the man did was correct and praised him. ¡°If it was really about sitting together, why didn¡¯t they ask the people 20 rows back if they¡¯d like the better seats upfront? They¡¯d still all be together,¡± one commented. Another added: ¡°They never do that! It's always about the more expensive seats.¡±
