People Are Calling Out Designer Sabyasachi's New Saree Collection With H&M For Being Outrageously Expensive
Designer Sabyasachi's new collection of sarees is getting criticism from people due to it being extremely ordinary and being outrageously expensive.
Designer Sabyasachi is known for his eloquent designs and expensive attires. Famous celebrities love to endorse this designer's brand and if a regular person gets to wear his attires then it only means that the person has finally arrived.
However, the designer is gaining a lot of attention on social media but this time, it's for all the wrong reasons. He joined hands with H&M and has launched several attires including flowy floral dresses, wide-legged pants and printed fishing jackets. There are several options for jewellery as well.
The designer also just launched his new collection of sarees and is getting a lot of criticism for it after he gave us all a sneak peek of it on Instagram.
The Sabyasachi X H&M collection's first saree is something straight out of an average Indian woman's closet.
In fact, most people thought that this saree looks exactly like something one's grandmother would wear. However, what bugged people more was that this very plain and average looking saree costs a whopping ?9999.
I'm pretty sure my grandmother had a very similar saree in 1970s which didn't cost her a kidney pic.twitter.com/RWphJoNHGw

People are shocked after getting to know the price of this saree and are calling him out for ripping off the design from literally every saree shop in the country.
This is the knock-off. My grannies wore this stuff all their lives and it was never expensive and the fabric was so good that we made quilts out of them later and we still have those.

That's a cotton printed saree and almost every Bengali woman used to have at least half a dozen. They turn wonderfully soft with every wash, and later used to be stitched in kanthas or used as kitchen wipes.

I've same saree in slightly different colour and at very reasonable rate. Now indian shopkeepers will sell the same stuff after raising the price and saying it's Sabyasachi dupe ?.. though what's the contribution of designer here ...?? https://t.co/nHGoE4j3Mn

Very ordinary looking sari. You can get lovely handloom sarees for ?2000 - ?3000. I¡¯m sure this one costs a liver or a kidney.

I have worn several such saris to work, in the 70s. They were very elegant and affordable. Not over 200 bucks.
