A woman claimed that a mobile store employee stole nude photos from her phone after she tried to trade it in.
This 24-year-old woman named Karen Mun from New York brought her device into the mobile store (T-Mobile) before an employee allegedly brought it to a closed-back room to see if she the woman was eligible for trading in her phone.
The man then came back and asked the woman to write down her phone's password so that he can unlock it and plug it into the computer. The woman trusted that this was needed for the process.
But when the guy came out, Karen's heart stopped after she got a glimpse of his phone. ¡°I saw his photo app open with, like, a bunch of my photos on there,¡± Mun told The New York Post, referencing dozens of intimate images of herself that she kept on her device.
¡°I felt like a part of me was stolen,¡± she said. ¡°I wanted to scream.¡±
Karen even confronted the guy and he accepted that he has downloaded her pictures. But the guy never deleted it. She is still pretty scared as to where those pictures can end up.
Karen has since filed a lawsuit against T-Mobile, alleging that they were negligent in its hiring, training and supervising of staff. The lawsuit alleges that T-Mobile is well aware that employees steal customers¡¯ sensitive data and hasn¡¯t done enough to stop it, The New York Post reports.
Apparently, several similar incidents have occurred previously.
