Sailers Found A Rare Fish With The Body Of A Shark And Face Of A Pig
Photos of an unusual fish with the body of a shark and the face of a pig have gone viral on social media
Nature always tends to surprise us humans and a recent find on an Italian island is a testament to it.
A group of Italian sailors were left amused and confused after they came across a fish that looks like some sort of bizarre cross between a pig and a shark.
They were left creeped out by this and anyone who would have seen the creature would have been too.
The unusual creature was spotted floating atop the water by the crewmen of a naval vessel anchored in the Darsena Medicea, which is in the town of Portoferraio on the Italian island of Elba.
They quickly moved to get the strange creature out of the water and discovered that it looked as if it had the body of a shark, but the face of a pig.
After a closer look people who knew about this creature mentioned that it was actually an angular rough shark - Oxynotus centrina, to those who know - which usually dwells some 700 metres below the waves.
The deep-sea oddity is also sometimes known as the pig-faced shark.
Twitter had a lot of comments about this creature.

Despite living so far beneath the sea, the angular rough shark is currently listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
However, even though it is endangered, locals say it has been known to show up on the surface on occasion.
