'Bizarre' Notice Alleged To Have been Issued By Chandigarh Sports Complex Turns Out To Be Fake
Chandigarh Lake Club has issued notice to all its members and wants them to abide by a strict set of rules. But these rules are really peculiar and have gone viral for the same reason.
Note: A recent claim suggests the notice is fake. This story was first published on August 3 and has been updated to reflect relevant changes.
Journalist Jatin Gandhi in his tweet pointed out, 'Several red flags in this notice that tell you it could be a prank/fake.'
Several red flags in this notice that tell you it could be a prank/fake. Yet, many news sites carried this without verifying it with the authorities. Because it was viral on social media. Only media with reporters on the ground did that. #MediaCredibility #misinformation pic.twitter.com/unvk0Qpihv

Earlier, it was suggested that a sports complex in Chandigarh had issued a 'bizarre' notice, one that made its members very uncomfortable.
This notice went viral on social media for wanting underwear stamped and smell test for gym members, among many other such weird rules. The picture of the notice was originally shared by journalist Arshdeep Sandhu on Twitter which has now been deleted.
However, since many others retweeted it on Twitter, it is still available.

The notice was alleged to have four pointers to be religiously followed by the members failing which defaulters would be taken to task.
One point was alleged to have mentioned that gym members wearing shorts should have their ¡°legs shaved." ¡°Gym users wearing shorts must shave their legs to preserve the decorum and to avoid unnecessary attention. Defaulters will be depilated at sight,¡± read a part of the notice.
Moreover it was claimed in the so-called notice that gym users wear "proper gym suits" and pay special attention to undergarments. "Only approved undergarments" will be allowed at the gym. "Only permitted bad words" was another point.
After this post went viral, people on the internet had a lot of comments about these rules.
* How does a member fail the "smell test"?

'depilated at sight'...I can imagine the management team running around with razors to punish the defaulters.

After this, Arshdeep Sandhu deleted her tweet after the club management issued a statement of sorts. When someone asked her what the statement was, this was her reply.
Not a statement as such, a member confronted them and they seemed oblivious and then removed it, said k humne nahi lagaya

The journalist again updated everyone that the notice too has been removed from the facility where the authorities called it "shararat" and someone else put it up on the bulletin board as a prank.
Update: The club management has removed it after hue and cry from members
¡ª Arshdeep Sandhu (Raavi) (@arsh11kaur) August 3, 2021
Said it is a ¡®shararat¡¯ https://t.co/v7SjK8so2D
She asked the authorities to lock the cabinet of the board so that this doesn't happen again.
