A recent case of bizarre robbery has taken the internet by storm. On Tuesday morning, a jewellery store shopkeeper started his day and went to open his shop. Surprisingly, the owner noticed a tunnel running through the drain and into his shop.
Thieves Rob Jewellery Shop By Digging Tunnel Inside Drain In Meerut
In Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, thieves banded together to devise a filmy plan to rob a jeweller¡¯s shop. According to reports, items worth lakhs were stolen from the shop through a tunnel through the drain.
The thieves devised a genius plan to evade outside surveillance and break into the shop. They dug a 10-foot-long tunnel through one of the drains in the shop and made a pathway to get inside the shop.
When the shopkeeper, identified as Piyush Garg, arrived at the shop in the morning, he noticed the odd tunnel.

Although the exact sum of the robbery is still uncertain, reports suggest that jewellery worth 10-15 Lakhs was stolen from the store. When he arrived at the shop on Tuesday, Garg was bewildered to find his store in a mess after the robbery.
Meerut Bullion Traders Association Gathered Around The Shop In A Protest
The robbery led to a protest in the neighbourhood as members of the Meerut Bullion Traders Association.
The association gathered by the store to protest against the dire condition of law and order in the area, alleging that this was the fourth such robbery incident in the city.
Two police officers went to the scene after hearing the noise, but the association members wouldn't let the officers into the shop. The group demanded the presence of a senior official to investigate the recent incidents and the other robberies that have taken place in the area lately.
According to the police reports, an investigation has been launched to catch the robbers.
Last month a similar case came to light when two robbers dug a 15-feet-long tunnel to enter a jewellery store in Meerut. Although the duo failed to rob the store, they did leave a parting apology to alert the owner.
The partners in crime did dig the long tunnel to get into the store but could not get into the vault where the jewellery was stored. In a hurry to flee the site, they scrawled an apology to the owner. The message read, ¡°We are sorry.¡±
