This Heartbreaking Picture Of 'Melting Greenland' Is Why We Need To Care About Climate Change
A striking picture of how much ice has turned into water in Greenland was taken on June 13 by Steffen Olsen. The picture shows sled dogs dragging a sled through what looks like an ocean. Climate change is for real and anyone who denies that is delusional. What's worse is that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg, but the future generations will face situations that are much worse compared to the ones we are battling.
A picture that is going viral on social media is scary enough to remind us that we have ruined our planet. The striking picture of how much ice has turned into water in Greenland, was taken on June 13 by Steffen Olsen. The picture shows sled dogs dragging a sled through what looks like an ocean.

But basically it is an ice sheet which is melting (it was not supposed to) and the sled dogs are forced to wade through water.
"It's possible that we could break the records set in 2012 for both lowest Arctic sea ice extent ... and for record high Greenland ice sheet melt," warned Ruth Mottram, a climatologist at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). "It is very much dependent on weather conditions this year," he added.
"The picture is striking...because it really visualises how the Arctic is changing," Mottram told AFP.
This is not the first indicator of our bleak future - very recently, a starving polar bear who travelled 1,500 km from the Arctic Ocean searching for food, arrived in an industrial northern Russian town on June 18.
According to the Siberian Times, the bear is believed to have crossed the Taymyr Peninsula to reach the industrial city of Norilsk. Polar bear depend on Arctic sea for hunting and sea ice has been shrinking faster; that leaves the bears hungry.
The animal lay despondently on ground for hours on Tuesday in Norilsk's suburbs, its feet soaked in mud, seldom rising to sniff around for food.
Starving polar bear 'can hardly move', say residents of Norilsk. Emaciated animal walked 1500 km south and away from Arctic Ocean, searching for food https://t.co/mD7yTaIusd pic.twitter.com/EjMJjS6Bac

Isn¡¯t it cruel to ruin nature for these voiceless creatures?
A heartbreaking picture of an elephant also went viral on social media - it shows the animal searching for food on a land filled with plastic waste. Plastic pollution is also a big challenge that humans are facing at the moment.
When cities expand, our dump yards also expand. #Forest land seems easy target for them.

This is what our plastic & other waste is doing to wildlife. A marvellous creature on human waste. PC- TN43 FB. pic.twitter.com/wWzBDmMv4n
Authorities and people should be careful with the use of plastic and even think about climate change else there will be no forests and no more wild life, which will ultimately lead to the end of the planet as we know it.
