Airbnb have since refunded him for the room and company have also paid him for stay in another hotel.
A British tourist in Amsterdam was more than just elated when he found an amazing deal for an Airbnb. It cost Rs 9000 (?100) for a night's stay. Ben Speller was elated to be able to get a chance to stay at the accommodation described in the Airbnb listing as a "clean room with private bathroom."
But to his horror, it was a shipping container illegally parked on the side of a road with a bed in it. The private bathroom was more a joke than a bathroom.
"We booked a hotel once we set eyes on it," Mr Speller posted on Facebook."To be fair, I got my ?100 quids worth in comedy value," he added.
Speaking to the Sun Online Travel, Mr Speller said the host, Jacob, had warned him shortly before arrival that there was an issue with running water, before giving him an opportunity to cancel.
Ben said that Airbnb have since refunded him for the room and company have also paid him for stay in another hotel.
The shipping container was later towed away by the city, Dutch news website AT5 reported.
An Airbnb spokesman said: "We have removed the host and listings from our platform. Misrepresented or fraudulent listings have no place on our platform, and our team works hard to constantly strengthen our defenses and stay ahead of bad actors."
