The Internet Is Divided Over This Video Of A Cat Getting Brain Freeze After Eating Ice Cream
A video is being shared on social media in which a person is feeding his cat ice cream, apparently for the first time. The fluffy white cat smells the spoon before taking a taste. As soon it tastes the cold ice cream, its eyes go big and the jaw drops open. The cat then shakes its head and falls on the chair.
So, if you are a lover of cat videos on the internet, you would know about the ice cream tasting trend that has been on since forever. Cat owners get their pets to taste some ice cream which gives the feline a brain freeze and voila, makes for great content, right? Everyone's laughing and the videos go viral.
However, having fun at someone else's expense, especially an animal, is cruel, to say the least.
Firstly, cats are lactose intolerant. Feeding them ice cream is a big no-no because it can lead to gastrointestinal and digestive issues. Cat farts aren't exactly the most pleasant either, just saying.

Secondly, if the whole experience of watching a cat get brain freeze is amusing, then there are bigger issues we need to deal with. Brain freeze is not a pleasant thing to experience for anyone, let alone a small helpless cat.
This conversation is taking place due to a video on social media in which a person is feeding his cat ice cream, apparently for the first time. The fluffy white cat smells the spoon before taking a taste. As soon it tastes the cold ice cream, its eyes go big and the jaw drops open. The cat then shakes its head and falls on the chair.

All of this might look extremely funny to you but is it really safe for the cat to get brain freeze? According to a Washington Post report, there are two sides to the debate.
While a veterinarian named Dr Amy Cousino, owner of the Cat¡¯s Meow Cat Clinic in Sebastian, Florida thinks, ¡°It¡¯s (brain freeze) pretty unhealthy for the cat. Cats have very similar nervous pathways [to humans]."

On the other hand, Eric Doughtery, veterinarian and medical director for The Cat Practice in New York believes that giving your cat a brain freeze isn't exactly harmful. However, the report mentions how Dr Doughtery still emphasised on cats being lactose intolerant and how that could pose a problem.
The video, posted by retired basketball player, Rex Chapman, has received a mix of reactions.

While some are laughing away to glory, others are calling it animal cruelty.
@RexChapman I had a kitty that loved ice cream, but he ate out of my bowl the melted cream. It wasn¡¯t freezing cold..., this kitty was in pain ... I think it¡¯s not a video you should share as a ¡°funny cat video¡±! Maybe a warning that this is animal cruelty!

This is animal cruelty. Shame on you and anyone that thinks this is funny.

Yeah I don¡¯t get it. It¡¯s not about the cream, it¡¯s not about that we know it¡¯s temporary brain freeze. The cat does not know it, feels pain and is scared. Not entertaining unless you¡¯re a sick bastard.
