Alert!: Small Online Business Shares Video On How They Were Almost Scammed By Fraudsters
An example of an online scam is this reel that was posted by a small business' page on Instagram about how they were "almost scammed" of Rs 8,000.
Online scam is quite common these days and people are advised to vary of being defrauded by someone.
An example of an online scam is this reel that was posted by a small business' page on Instagram about how they were "almost scammed" of Rs 8,000. However, luckily for them, they managed to realise they were being scammed before falling for the malicious ploy.
Awktopus, which is a "homegrown brand with a bunch of happy products by two awkward siblings", shared the reel on their Instagram page showing how they were almost scammed and alerted others of being careful about the same.
According to the screenshots posted in the reel, a conversation takes place between the brand and the scammer. The alleged fraudster's Instagram handle is @shoppingcart117 and apparently, they bought products worth Rs 858 from Awktopus. After the brand asks them to send payment confirmation, a screenshot of the transaction is shared.
The video is captioned, "A couple of days back, someone tried to pull a fast one on us. Thankfully we didn¡¯t end up falling for it. But if we weren¡¯t alert enough, we¡¯d have ended up losing about 8k!! Please do share it with other small business owners so that they could be more cautious and aware of such scammers."
"They sent us a screenshot where the amount was only typed. And they supposedly sent 8k additional," the Awktopus said.
"Sorry mem syd jyada amount pay ho gya h aapko (Sorry ma'am, I sent you some extra money)," the scammer wrote to Awktopus and requested to return the 'extra' Rs 8,000.
However, luckily for the company, they noticed that the scammer had only typed the amount Rs 8,58 instead of the screenshot of the transaction. So, instead of saying anything, Awktopus decided to play it smart and typed "Paid Rs 8,000" and shared a screenshot of the same with the scammer. They added the words, "Tit for tat" in the reel.
Once the scammer realised they were scammed, they resorted to abusive language.
Sour grapes, right?
