In a recent video that went viral, a family can be seen enjoying a game of football on the television with a coffin in the room. In fact, no one seems to be bothered by the fact that there's a coffin in the room. The funeral service was apparently paused and the coffin was even decorated with jerseys for good luck. Still, the video grabbed attention online for being unusual. Here's what went on.

In certain cultures, death is just the beginning of the after-party. Deceased loved ones remain VIP guests at gatherings, mingling with the living. A video that surfaced online recently shows a family engrossed in a TV football game, with a coffin chilling in the room like it's just another piece of furniture. As the clip proceeds, no one bats an eye at the casket, which is decked out in jerseys for good luck. The funeral was on a halftime break, but the internet couldn¡¯t get enough of this unusual scene. Those present in the room were in fact enjoying the game like no other - laughing, making noise, gesticulating... the works. The sense one gets after watching the clip is that this was a family celebrating with its deceased loved one, and the match was just an excuse to keep the momentum going. In a way, it's heartening although some who will watch this clip might struggle to make sense. Either way, keep an open mind.

The clip was shared on X on June 23, 2024, by user Tom Valentino, and has only managed to rake in a thousand views so far. But given how quickly things go viral online, this one won't be too far behind. "Chile : During a funeral that happened at the same time as a Chile vs. Peru Copa America match, the family paused the service to watch the game on a big screen in the prayer room. They even decorated the coffin with player jerseys for good luck," the caption read.
There were some interesting comments though. "So they watched the game one last time together. It's a great send off," admitted one user. "Soccer is like watching paint dry," joked another. "Should have scheduled the funeral on a non-game day," chimed in a third.
