Wannabe Drug Dealer Turns To Crime To Pay Off Debt, Gets Caught By Cops On The First Day

A man who was selling drugs for the first time was caught by police the same day he started his new 'venture.'

35-year-old Rudy Young, a licensed scrap metal merchant, became addicted to cocaine following his divorce and chose to sell drugs in order to pay off his debt. Worried he'd lose his family and business, he turned to crime hoping he'd make it.

Wannabe drug dealer caught on the first day by cops

But it was not to be. On the first day of his new chosen 'profession,' Young was caught by police. On January 20, 2021, in Blackpool, cops spotted a car that had stopped on Ryedale Avenue with a pedestrian leaning in through the window.

The cops suspected that a drug deal was taking place and they proceeded to stop the vehicle when Young identified himself to the police. According to a prosecutor at Preston Crown Court, the cops found bags containing white powder, two mobile phones and ?450 cash during their search of the car. Text messages on one of the phones were related to drugs.

The defending lawyer, Julie Taylor, said Young had been a recreational cocaine user until the end of his 16-year marriage, at which point he began using more of the drug as a way to cope.

While Young pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs, he avoided jail time and was instead handed a two-year sentence suspended for two years and given 150 hours of unpaid work.
