The first part of the video shows Chris Rock getting slapped, and the second part is where it gets interesting...as Anup Soni, the anchor of Crime Patrol, makes an appearance with his famous dialogue: "Satark rahe."
For the people who didn't get the joke, Jada Pinkett Smith has been vocal about battling alopecia, an autoimmune disorder, which causes hair loss by attacking hair follicles. It is said that Rock later approached the Smiths to apologize and Denzel Washington got involved too.
Earlier in the ceremony, Regina Hall joked about Smith and Pinkett Smith's marriage during a skit alongside Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.
The controversy has continued to drag on, with Smith on Friday resigning from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences after the 'slapgate', CNN reported,
Smith will no longer be able to vote on Oscar-nominated movies and performances. His work, however, will still be eligible for future Oscars consideration and nominations.
In a statement released on Friday, the actor said that his actions were ¡°shocking, painful and inexcusable¡±.
¡°I betrayed the trust of the Academy,¡± he said. ¡°I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. So, I am resigning from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.¡±
