To welcome a newborn into the world is the greatest joy for every mother but for this Gujarat woman that joy was mixed with crippling fear.
The unnamed woman gave birth in an ambulance in Gir Somanth while the vehicle was surrounded by a pride of lions.
According to a DNA report, things took a dramatic turn when the ambulance taking the woman to the hospital was surrounded by four lions. With no option left, the woman had to deliver the baby in the ambulance under the supervision of the emergency staff present there.
The woman delivered a healthy baby, noted the emergency staff. The mother was also in stable condition. The lions were present near the ambulance for at least 20 more minutes, states the report.
Subsequently, the lions started to move, and the vehicle reached the hospital where the mother and the baby are currently admitted.
On May 10, another woman gave birth to triplets in an ambulance under similar circumstances.
According to a TOI report, Govind Bambhania, an emergency medical technician in a 108 ambulance, got in touch with a gynaecologist through the 108 call centre and he managed to help the woman deliver her babies through instructions given by the doctor.

According to the report, every cry that the woman let out during her labour, would be followed by a deafening roar of the pride of lions in the forest where the ambulance was stranded.
In another incident, a 32-year-old delivered a baby in the vicinity of the Gir forest in an ambulance after midnight back in 2017, reports PTI.
A group of 12 lions emerged from the adjacent forests and surrounded the vehicle near a remote village in Amreli district.
¡°When the ambulance was on its way to Jafarabad with Makwana, the on-duty Emergency Management Technician (EMT) Ashok Makwana realised that she would give birth anytime, as the head of the baby was protruding out. Thus, he asked the driver Raju Jadav to stop the ambulance mid-way to deal with the emergency," Chetan Gaadhe, Emergency Management Executive of '108' in Amreli was quoted as saying.
Even in this incident, the lions stuck around for 20 minutes while the paramedic staff of the '108' ambulance tackled the situation with courage and helped the woman named Makwana in giving birth, while the lion pride blocked the vehicle's passage.
