Chinese Woman Sues Colleague After He Hugged Her So Tightly That He Broke Three Of Her Ribs
The woman took the coworker to the Yunxi Court and sought compensation for damages for the money she lost due to the supposed rib-breaking hug.
Hugs are fantastic, especially when you get them at the right time from the right person. But what if it's a 'rib-crushing hug,' quite literally? A Chinese woman sued her coworker after he allegedly broke three of her ribs by hugging her too tightly.
The woman took the coworker to the Yunxi Court and sought compensation for damages for the money she lost due to the supposed rib-breaking hug.
According to reports, the accident happened in May 2021. The woman from China's Hunan province's Yueyang city was chatting with a coworker at her workplace when a male colleague approached her and hugged her firmly.
The woman allegedly screamed in pain after the hug. As per IOL, she reportedly felt pain in her chest even after leaving work.
Instead of going to the doctor, she put hot oil on her chest and went to bed. The woman went to the hospital five days after her chest pain worsened.
The woman had three broken ribs, two of which were located on the right side of her rib cage and one on the left, according to an X-ray scan. She also lost money because she was forced to take a leave of absence from her job. She also had to pay for nursing services and medical expenses.
While recovering, she ran into the male coworker who had hugged her and broken her ribs. She attempted to reach an agreement with him. The man disputed that she had no proof that the injury resulted from his warm hug.
After some time, the woman sued her coworker, requesting damages for her financial losses.
The judge mandated the coworker to pay compensation of 10,000 yuan, or Rs. 1.16 lakh.
The court added that there was no evidence to prove that the woman took part in any activities that could have caused the broken bones during those five days.
