Time To Go For Holiday! This CEO Is Giving Extra Paid Vacation Leaves As Christmas Prize To Employees
Nina Cabrera, the CEO of a cosmetics company in the Philippines, is giving five additional paid vacations for 2023 to some employees as a Christmas prize.
The holiday season has begun all over the world. Isn't it time to be joyful and celebratory with Christmas just around the corner? And to make the most of it, some companies are leaving no stone unturned for their employees.
Last week, a billionaire boss treated his 10,000 employees to an all-expenses-paid 3-day Disney World trip over the weekend. And now, the CEO of a cosmetics company in the Philippines has come up with another novel idea.
Five Days Of Additional Paid Vacation Leaves
Colourette Cosmetics is giving five days of additional paid leave as part of the prizes at a Christmas party, according to a TikTok video from Nina Cabrera, the founder and CEO of the homegrown makeup brand, as per a Bloomberg report.
CEO Nina Cabrera shared a video of her taking slips of paper with employees' names from a jar. As she announced the winners at the party, the crowd cheered and clapped.
Cabrera said she was witness to how much work her staff had put in in 2022.
"We decided that as part of our raffle prizes, it would be fitting to include 3 winners of five additional paid vacation leaves for 2023," she wrote later on LinkedIn. "Congratulations to the winners; well deserved!"
Inspiration Behind the Move
Cabrera said on Twitter Tuesday that she was inspired by a viral post from a Philippine lawyer that lamented how a big TV wouldn¡¯t matter if the employees were stuck in the office all the time.
The prize is a welcome move in the Philippines, which reportedly lags behind its neighbours like Singapore and Indonesia in leave entitlement. According to the Philippine labor code, an employee who has worked for at least a year is entitled to five days of paid leave, although local companies tend to offer more time off than the legal minimum.

Going Beyond the Usual for Employees
This year, many companies have come forward with unique ideas to cater to their employees' well-being and thank them.
A Bengaluru-based startup, Wakefit Innovations Pvt. Ltd., announced that staff members will now be allowed to take naps for up to 30 minutes at work. The organisation decided to normalise afternoon naps at work and declare 2 to 2.30 pm.
In another generous gesture, the CEO of Kissflow Inc, a Chennai-based software-as-a-service company, gifted five of his employees BMW 530d cars worth more than Rs 1 crore each for their loyalty to the company.
A British recruitment company, 'Yolk Recruitment' in Cardiff, Wales, too, did something special for employees. It spent around Rs 1 crore to take 55 members of its staff on a four day holiday to thank them for working through the COVID-19 pandemic in April.
These are just some of the many examples of companies and their heads going above and beyond the usual to thank their employees and do something for their well being this year.
