With Focus Back On Tesla, Elon Musk Says No One Will Be Hired Without His Personal Approval

Just a handful of days after announcing new Twitter CEO, Elon Musk is back to focusing on Tesla. "Bringing on Linda (as new Twitter CEO) allows me to devote more time to Tesla, which is exactly what I will be doing," Musk mentioned last week.

And now, the Tesla CEO has said that the EV company can make no new hiring unless he personally approves them, including contractors, according to a copy of the email seen by Reuters.

According to the email, Musk told executives to send him a list of hiring requests on a weekly basis, while also cautioning them to "think carefully" before submitting such requests.

"No one can join Tesla, even as a contractor, until you receive my email approval", Musk said in the email on Monday.

Last month, Tesla posted its lowest quarterly gross margin in two years, missing market estimates, as it slashed prices aggressively in markets including the United States and China to spur demand and fend off rising competition.

"Can Now Spend More Time Running Tesla"

Musk named former NBCUniversal advertising chief Linda Yaccarino as Twitter's new CEO last week. He had said last week that hiring Yaccarino would allow him to spend more time running Tesla.

"Bringing on Linda allows me to devote more time to Tesla, which is exactly what I will be doing," Musk had said.

Tesla shareholders had earlier taken Musk to court for his mammoth $56 billion pay package as Tesla CEO, claiming that he had spent most of his time at Twitter instead of Tesla. Elon Musk is expected to address Tesla shareholders soon at the automaker's annual meeting at its headquarters in Austin, Texas, as per the Reuters report.
