At 52.8%, India Has Higher Percentage Of Employable Women Than Men, Says India Skills Report 2023
India¡¯s employable talent has risen from 46.2 per cent to 50.3 per cent, which means that 50.3 per cent people were found to be employable as compared to the last year¡¯s data. Among the states, candidates from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi were most employable.
In the past year, India¡¯s employable talent has risen from 46.2 per cent to 50.3 per cent, which means that 50.3 per cent of people were found to be employable as compared to the last year¡¯s data. This is according to the India Skills Report 2023 by global online talent assessment company Wheebox,
For the report, 3.75 lakh candidates or freshers were evaluated. They took the Wheebox National Employability Test (WNET) and as many as 150 corporations participated from over 15 different industries.
52.8% Women Employable v/s 47.2% Men
The percentage of women who were found to be employable has increased to 52.8 per cent, compared to 47.2 per cent for men. ¡°The consistent rise in women¡¯s employability over the past ten years is a positive sign of radical changes in India¡¯s developing labour market. Increased participation of women at work will give industries an edge with key roles already being occupied by women as we go into 2023," the report states, as per Mint.
The report also mentioned that 89% of graduates were looking for internship opportunities.

States With Most Employable Candidates
Among the states, candidates from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi were most employable, while in professional courses, candidates who have pursued B. Tech, MBA and B. Com were the most employable talent.
In Indian cities, the most employable talent was found in Mumbai, Lucknow and Mangalore.
The India Skills Report 2023 by Wheebox examined the strategic overview of India's Skills and Talent Economy by 2030.
The gap between the skills the graduates have and the ones required by the industry remains. ¡°There is an urgent need across the country for multiple stakeholders to remedy the industry and higher education gap," Piyush Nangru, said the co-founder and COO of Sunstone, which was amongst the partners in the report, along with CII, Taggd, AICTE, AIU, Pearson, AWS, and Economic Times.
¡°Improving employability through higher education remains a challenge and can be attributed to many factors. The post-Covid era further requires realignment of the higher education curriculum, up-skilling practices, and training techniques," he mentioned.
