With 35% Female Staff, Tata Consultancy Services Becomes Top Women Employer In India
Tata Consultancy Services has turned out to be the biggest employer of women in India, with 2.1 lakh female employees. The 2.1 lakh women employees occupy 35% of TCS¡¯ workforce. TCS is followed by Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, and Reliance Industries, which employ 1.24 lakh (40%), 88,946 (36%), 62,780 (28%), and 62,560 (18%) women employees, respectively.
With 2.10 lakh female employees in its workforce, Tata Consultancy Services has turned out to be the biggest employer of women in India.
Women employees occupy 35% of TCS¡¯ workforce. This is as per the recently released report 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 ¡¯second edition of the list. Burgundy Private is Axis Bank¡¯s Private Banking Business.
Top Women Employers In India
In the list of companies employing the most women employees, Tata Consultancy Services is followed by Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies and Reliance Industries that employ 1.24 lakh (40%), 88,946 (36%), 62,780 (28%) and 62,560 (18%) of women employees, respectively.
According to the list, the top 10 employers of women in the country are Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Reliance Industries, Motherson Sumi Systems, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Page Industries.
As far as companies having the most women representation on the board of directors is concerned, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise tops with 6 women directors on board, followed by Godrej Consumer Products, Piramal Enterprises and India Cements, with 5 each.
¡°Women make up 16% of the boards of the companies from the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500. As India¡¯s economy grows and the India 500 becomes bigger, expect the percentage of women board directors to grow too. The 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 are some of the biggest employers of women in the country led by Tata Consultancy Services with about 2.1 lakh women employees," Anas Rahman Junaid MD and Chief Researcher, Hurun India said.

Top 10 Most Valued Companies
Coming to the Top 10 companies of the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 list, the total value of the top 10 companies is Rs 72 lakh crore (US$872 billion), equivalent to 37% of India¡¯s GDP and 31% of the total value of the 2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500 list.
These companies are ranked according to their value, defined as market capitalization for listed companies and valuations for non-listed companies. The deadline for compiling this list was October 30, 2022. This list refers to companies headquartered in India only; state-owned companies and subsidiaries of foreign as well as Indian companies are not included.
To make it to the ¡®2022 Burgundy Private Hurun India 500¡¯ list, companies are required to have a minimum value of Rs 6,000 crore, equivalent to US$725 million.
Reliance Industries is the most valuable company in the world, with a market capitalization of Rs 17,25,058 crore, followed by TCS (Rs 11,68,390 crore). HDFC Bank, Infosys, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Ltd., ITC, Adani Total Gas, and Adani Enterprises are the rank-ordered remaining 8 companies in the top 10 list.
