Eid ul-Adha 2025: Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid-ul-Adha 2025, also known as Bakrid, Eid-al-Adha, or Eid-ul-Zuha. This important Islamic festival is also called the ¡°Festival of Sacrifice¡± and holds deep meaning for the Muslim community.
Eid-ul-Adha is observed in memory of Prophet Ibrahim¡¯s strong faith in Allah. According to Islamic belief, Allah asked Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son. Ibrahim agreed without hesitation, but seeing his deep faith, Allah replaced his son with a lamb.
To remember this act of obedience and devotion, Muslims worldwide celebrate Bakrid every year on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is usually celebrated over three days. Since the Islamic calendar is based on moon sightings, the date of Eid-ul-Adha may vary from one country to another.
