Elon Musk Congratulates PM Modi On Election Victory
Three days after the 2024 Lok Sabha results were announced, Elon Musk tweeted, ¡°Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world¡¯s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India.¡±
Elon Musk postponed his planned visit to India in April this year due to "very heavy Tesla obligations". He was expected to visit the country on April 21 and 22 and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Musk later said he hopes to come to India later this year. In June last year, Musk met PM Modi in the US, expressing confidence that Tesla and Starlink would enter the Indian market soon.
"Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year," Elon Musk posted on X.
World leaders congratulated Narendra Modi
Apart from Musk, many businessmen and world leaders congratulated Narendra Modi on his election win, including US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
PM-designate Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest political party in India on June 4, winning 240 out of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats. Its rival party, the Indian National Congress, won 99 seats. While BJP, on its own, did not have enough seats to reach the majority mark in this election, the NDA alliance is set to form the government with 293 seats.
PM Modi's oath ceremony schedule
President Droupadi Murmu will administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other members of his Union Council of Ministers on June 9, 2024, at 7:15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Modi's Oath Ceremony Guest List
Top South Asian leaders have been invited to the oath ceremony, reflecting the government's 'Neighbourhood First' policy. The guest list includes Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Nepal's Premier Pushpa Kamal Dahal, among others. Formal invitations have also been sent to Bhutan's Tshering Tobgay and Mauritius' PM Pravind Jugnauth, reports suggest.
