But besides that, each of the show¡¯s six characters (Rachel, Chandler, Phoebe, Joey, Ross, and Monica) gave us valuable money lessons that we can implement in our financial lives. Read on as we unfold the same.
Money Lessons We Can Learn From FRIENDS
1. Phoebe Buffay
Phoebe is one of the show¡¯s wackiest personalities, but she holds her ground and speaks her mind. Besides Joey, Phoebe was the only character who didn¡¯t have a steady job or career. She worked as a masseuse but used to repeatedly lose her job. She also had a bizarre singing skill, which often came in handy when she needed a little extra cash. That it is why its important to have a side hustle.
Moreover, when she and Monica began their catering business and their customers resorted to drama to avoid paying, she truly digged in and refused to leave until they were paid. She was never afraid to try new things and pursue career opportunities.

2. Chandler Bing
In the show, Chandler Bing had a 9-to-5 job that had something to do with statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, and he hated it. But it was a good-paying job, during which he used to financially help Joey in more ways than one. He paid for his auditions, rent, bills, etc. Then, in his mid-30s, provided that he did have enough savings and did not used to splurge unnecessarily, he was able to take the risk of switching careers and began working as a marketing intern. That risk eventually also paid off, as he transitioned from an intern to a full-time role.
Later, when he was to get married to Monica, he took a realistic approach of turning down Monica¡¯s desire for a fancy wedding and explaining to her that he had saved all these years so that they may have a lovely future and own a home, rather than blowing it all up for a party. That's a key lesson we can learn from him.
3. Joey Tribbiani
Joey is the character of an aspiring actor in the show who is always auditioning for different roles and used to mostly rely on Chandler for rent and other bills. After he got his break through ¡®Days of Our Lives¡¯., he committed the mistake of going on a spending spree when he purchased useless and avoidable items for his new apartment through his credit card. Soon after he lost his spot on the show, he was left with thousands of dollars in credit card debt and no money to pay it off.
That is why it is important to save money when you are earning well, given that with highs also come lows in life, for which an emergency fund is a necessity.
4. Monica Geller
More often than not, Monica has a cautious approach to life, but the thought of losing her job never occurred to her. And when she lost it and was struggling to pay the bills, she invested the little money that she had in a stock instead of using it to pay for her expenses.
Also, despite always dreaming of a fancy wedding, she hadn¡¯t saved up for it and had to rely on her parents for her wedding funds. Her parents, on the other hand, spent her wedding budget on a beach house.
From these instances, we again learn the importance of having savings, both for day-to-day expenses and for big life goals.
5. Rachel Green
One of the characters who transformed a lot financially was Rachel. From cutting off her father's credit cards to working as a waitress and ultimately achieving the position of corporate leadership at Ralph Lauren, she evolved a lot financially. It's worth learning from her that all it takes is patience, hard work, self-belief, and determination to overcome every circumstance in life, especially when it comes to one's finances.
6. Ross Geller
It's fair to say that Ross is one of the most literate and competent individuals in the group who lives a disciplined life, especially financially. Ross always kept thinking about the future. Whether it¡¯s blind dates or lectures, this man plans and prepares for just about everything. When his friends wanted to buy lottery tickets, he tried to persuade them not to do so by informing them how slim their chances of winning were.
He didn¡¯t want to take part in the bet, and he also doesn¡¯t want his friends to suffer. After Monica purchases tickets on his behalf, he tells Joey that he will invest the money if he receives it upon winning. Again, a good habit.
