He was the chairman of Tata Sons group for over two decades, from 1991 to 2012, and even after his retirement, he remained involved in philanthropic activities through Tata Trusts.
According to a report in Jagran Josh, Ratan Tata received a remuneration of Rs 2.5 crore every year as the former chairman. His income also included earnings from dividends owing to small personal stakes in Tata Sons. But most of his income was spent on his charitable ventures and his investment in startups which includes Paytm and Ola.
