The calculator is a satirical tool designed to humorously determine the amount of dowry a man could hypothetically demand from a woman's family. It prompts users to input various details such as their educational background, financial status, and other information for amusement purposes.

When users click to discover their "worth," the feature unexpectedly presents statistics on dowry deaths in India. Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal recently took to social media to sarcastically promote this tool. While some users who were already aware of the tool praised him for the initiative, a significant portion of people criticized him for seemingly promoting dowry, which was abolished in 1961.
Anupam Mittal shared the clip on his Instagram and pointed out that it was easy to calculate dowry in the past but not anymore. He said, "Now it has become extremely complicated. It depends on income, SIP, startup equity."
The former Shark Tank India judge pointed out that people also judge others based on whether they use an Android device or an iPhone, "To simplify all this, we integrated AI, MM and ChatGPT to create a Dowry Calculator which is known as DowrAI."
He captioned the video as, "Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat ab tum bhi jaano Ramesh babu".

Since being shared, it has amassed eight lakh views and over 28,000 likes. The reactions on his video have been a mix of confusion and anger.
