Tesla Model S and Model X will now be able to cover a larger distance on a single charge, thanks to a new and upgraded drivetrain produced by the company. Tesla says that the upgrade has been achieved without making any changes to the electric cars¡¯ batteries.
With the new upgrade, the two Tesla models will now also be able to charge faster than before and have an improved suspension design. As for the upgraded range, the Model S and the Model X will now cover close to 600 km and 520 km respectively.
The new numbers give Tesla a massive lead over its competition in the market. Even the range friendly makes like the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Bolt are limited to the range of 360 km and 383 km respectively, while performance driven electric cars in the market like the Jaguar I-Pace and the Audi E-tron claim a maximum range of 376 km and 328 km respectively.

The Supercharging has also been enhanced on the two cars, as the Model S and the Model X will now be able to draw 200 kW from Tesla¡¯s V3 charging stations and 145 kW from the V2. Though only the Model 3 can draw the maximum rate of 250 kW out of the Tesla superchargers.
The new Model S and X also sport a new air suspension system which, as per Tesla, will provide a softer cruising and a more responsive ¡°dynamic driving¡±. In addition to this, Tesla will also continue upgrading the system with future software updates.

With the increase in the range and a faster charging, Tesla might just trump the competition in the electric vehicle market. To ace that, Musk recently announced that the company will be starting with its Robotaxi service by next year, which will allow Tesla owners to make their vehicle a part of an autonomous ride sharing fleet and earn money from it. Tesla cars are already equipped with all the hardware for self-driving, meaning all the company needs to do to kickstart the service is push an OTA software update.
As and when the concept initiates, Tesla will start rendering other EVs useless in terms of ownership, as people will naturally be drawn to a vehicle which will make them money in its idle time. Till then, those interested in upgrading their Teslas to the new Model S and the Model X will be getting the $20,000 Ludicrous Mode upgrade at no additional charge.
