Elon Musk, the tech billionaire and Tesla owner, often praises Tesla's Full Self-Driving system, but the debate around autonomous vehicles has always been on the edge. According to some, this will be the future of road safety, while others remain skeptical about the ability to match human judgment.
But imagine if self-driving cars could not only do this but also exceed human driving capabilities, such as reacting faster, especially in critical moments. Most recently, a user of Tesla took to their X (formerly called Twitter) to share a story of how Tesla's Artificial Intelligence (AI) saved their life.
The incident shared by the user saw a reaction from the Tesla owner himself.
On Monday, the user under the name @Scobleizer shared that he thought Tesla was trying to kill him, as AI was driving him in the fast lane at 79 m.p.h, and all of a sudden it lunged across the yellow line.
He went on to mention that before he could take over, a motorcyclist went by at a high rate of speed in his lane. This is when Tesla saw him coming behind him and moved over to let him by. "It quickly moved back after the motorcyclist was safely past. AI was saving both of us."
"Thank the lord Tesla¡¯s AI is properly aligned with human outcomes.
No mere ¡°driver assistance¡± package can do that."
The post shared by the user garnered massive attention on X, including one from a Tesla owner. Billionaire Musk reshared the post with a caption, "Tesla self-driving will be far safer than human driving."
On the other hand, Elon Musk's reaction saw a mixed reaction from netizens, as some said they don't want to take any risk, while others mentioned that AI in general will surpass humans in everything, even in the most human things.
"What if I'm far safer than human drivers already, as I am more trained on driving in all conditions anywhere than AI? Will you allow me to teach my car what it doesn't know?," one questioned.
And the debate went on.
According to Tesla's official website, the Autopilot is an advanced driver assistance system that enhances its safety and convenience behind the wheel. If it is used properly, the Autopilot mode reduces the overall workload as a driver.?
