Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are back with a new adventure and this time around, the pair managed to add a twist to their biking adventure. The duo famous for their British TV named ¡®Long Way Round¡¯ are coming up with the next iteration of their motorbike quest and interestingly, they opted for a pair of electric motorcycles for their trip this time.
Starting from the southernmost tip of Argentina, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have now concluded their 12,874 km quest in roughly 90 days on a pair of Harley Davidson LiveWires. The electric motorcycles made their final stop of the journey in Los Angeles for a private conclusive event at a Harley Davidson dealership!
The journey saw the duo traverse across South and Central America on their all electric motorcycles. Interestingly, Charley mentioned that charging the electric bikes was not a struggle throughout the journey. They relied on the locals to get their bikes charged, at times even using generators for the same. Thanks to a widespread charging network, the ride was even easier once they crossed New Mexico to enter the US. The duo would average around 482 km everyday thanks to the fast charging support.
What started off in Ushuaia, Tiera del Fuego archipelago in mid-September now turns out to be a celebrated success story, not just for the two bikers but also the electric motorcycles. A trip that long on a couple of electric bikes is a testimony to their performance and a challenge to the range anxiety associated with electric vehicles.
Harley Davidson¡¯s first ever all electric motorcycle - LiveWire turned out to be a good choice for the journey after all. At the time of its launch earlier this year, Harley Davidson had promised some interesting numbers for the motorcycle, including a range of up to 235 kms on a single charge and a fast charging support to charge the battery up to 80 percent in just 40 minutes through Level 3 DC Fast Charger. Performance specs were equally impressive, making the LiveWire the quickest Harley Davidson bike ever produced!
