The son of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, Junaid Khan, is getting ready to make his screen debut on June 14 in the movie Maharaj on Netflix. First-look images of Junaid and co-star Jaideep Ahlawat were released by the creators last month, and the movie has unfortunately already stirred up controversy before its awaited release.
People on social media are demanding a ban because they think the movie will badly depict sadhus and religious leaders. Hindu activists expressed their displeasure with the movie's portrayal of religious figures and hence the hashtag #BoycottNetflix started trending on X.
One wrote, ¡° Netflix is back again with anti Hindu propaganda content. Aamir Khan is launching his son with a Hinduphobic film Maharaj and secretly releasing it without any trailer or teaser The film Maharaj defames hindu Saints and sages by showing them immoral, lustful and having hooligan attitude. Another added, "Junaid Khan, Yash Raj Films, and #Netflix will all be held responsible if this film tries to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by showing sadhus and saints as miscreants and lustful, thereby disrupting law and order. #BoycottNetflix Ban Maharaj Film."
