Earlier, while speaking to CNBCTV18, Jitendra Kumar revealed how Panchayat came about for him. The kind of shows TVF wants to produce includes ones they would like to watch, and Malgudi Days falls into that category. The concept of a present-day village emerged during brainstorming, and the idea of the panchayat took shape. Suggestions were made to follow various characters, involve the entire village, and present numerous stories within this distinctive setting. The creative process then shifted towards infusing a quirky element, and the show's writer suggested centering it around a young urban man. This character, reluctantly taking on the role of the panchayat secretary ¨C a position he initially rejects, became the central focus. Once the basic premise was established, the conversation turned to casting the protagonist. With Jitendra present, the proposal was made for him to assume the role. He found the entire concept intriguing ¨C the story, the character, and the surrounding elements. And that's how the narrative unfolded.
