The actress is said to have gotten a fat pay cheque for the popular series.
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) gets expelled from her school for throwing live piranhas into the swimming pool as payback for her brother Pugsley being teased by the boys' water polo team. As a result, she is enrolled at her alma mater, Nevermore Academy, a private school for hideous outcasts located in the Vermont hamlet of Jericho, by her parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams. Wednesday finds it difficult to relate to her classmates because of her icy, heartless demeanor and her rebellious streak, which also gets her in trouble with Larissa Weems, the principal of the school. But when she finds out she possesses her mother's psychic gifts, she uses them to solve a local murder mystery.
The first season of Wednesday's pay for Jenna Ortega was not made public, but a report from Cosmopolitan Magazine stated that the actress received $30,000 (Rs 25 Lac approx) for each episode. By the end of the event, she had earned $240,000 (Rs 2 crore approx.), according to this. Currently, a number of reports have projected that Wednesday will receive an astounding $250,000 (Rs 2.08 Crore) per episode for Season 2, taking into account her popularity.
Wednesday debuted on November 16, 2022, and on November 23, it was made available on Netflix. Reviewers gave the movie mostly favorable reviews, praising Ortega's performance. It surged to the position of second most watched English-language Netflix series in just three weeks after its debut. Best Television Series ¨C Musical or Comedy and Best Actress ¨C Television Series Musical or Comedy for Ortega were the two Golden Globe nominations it received. Nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series were also received for Primetime Emmys.?
A second season of the show was announced in January 2023.
