Sector 36, based on Nithari Killings, was recently released on Netflix a few days ago and the film started a lot of discussion on social media. People praised the film¡¯s concept, cast and everything else and even days after the release, fans can¡¯t stop talking about it. Amid the buzz, a Pakistani actor Yasir Hussain who has previously slammed daily soaps and more has made a shocking claim about the film. Taking to his Instagram account, Yasir Hussain said that Sector 36 is a copy of Pakistani film called Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of A Serial Killer.?
As mentioned above and according to several media pages, Yasir Hussain penned a note on Instagram and said,? Sector 36 aagayi hai. Javed Iqbal ki copy hai. Wo to aap dekh nahi sakte, yeh dekh lena.¡± (Sector 36 has been released and it is a copy of Javed Iqbal. You can¡¯t watch the film now, so watch Sector 36 instead).
Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of A Serial Killer had a Karachi premiere and was slated to hit theaters on January 28, 2022. Nevertheless, prior to its premiere, the Central Board of Film Censors and the Punjab government both banned the movie. Amid it all, the movie received a Berlin Film Festival selection. The creators decided to alter the film's title to "Kukri" (another moniker for the serial murderer) after the ban was lifted.?
On June 2, 2023, the movie was eventually released.?
Given that the two movies are centered around a serial murder, that seems to be the only thing they have in common. Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of A Serial Killer was based on a serial killer of the same name, while Sector 36 is based on the horrific Nithari Killings occurrence.?
So we aren't sure if calling it a copy would be the right approach but this is what actor Yassir thinks.?
In an interview with Something Haute, Yasir Hussain referred to Indian television dramas as "poison" and criticized them.??
He was quoted saying ¡°India ke paas apna drama dekha hai aapne? Matlab woh nations jinke paas ghatiya quality ka drama hai woh humare drama zaroor dekh rahe hain.¡±
