One of the highly anticipated movies of the year,?Kalki 2898 AD finally hit the theatres last month after several delays. The fact that the Nag Ashwin directorial is based on Indian mythology - particularly Mahabharat and Kalki Puran - has made the audiences eagerly await it's release. As the film hit theatres, it received mixed reviews. While some fans were bowled over by the film, others thought it had some good things and bad too. The movie which has crossed Rs 1000 crores at the worldwide box office is still running in theatres. In case you're waiting for its OTT release, here's a big update.?
The Hindi version of the film which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan in lead roles has been bagged by Netflix. Hence, the streaming platform will release the movie. For the languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, viewers will have to head to Amazon Prime Video. It is said that the streaming giant secured the rights for a whopping Rs 200 crores, while Netflix got it for Rs 175 crores reportedly.?
If you think that the film will be available to stream on OTT soon, you're probably wrong. The window for releasing films on OTT platforms is usually eight months. However, the most expensive Indian sci-fi film might not arrive online so soon. As per the latest reports, the makers have said that they will release it on OTT ten weeks after its theatrical run. Since the movie is already running in theatres, it might only be available online in October or November.??
Meanwhile, the Indian film has achieved another milestone at the box office. The movie has hit Rs 1000 crore mark with its collections worldwide.?In the last few years, Pathaan and Jawan, both starring Shah Rukh Khan, SS Rajamouli's RRR and Baahubali: The Conclusion, Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal, and KGF: Chapter 2, featuring Yash, earned over Rs 1,000 crore at the global box office.
