Kingston OTT Release: G. V. Prakash Kumar recently headlined a Tamil film which is seeing a promising start at the box office. Released theatrically on 7th March, the thriller has earned Rs 2.12 crore in just two days and its reviews are equally glowing. If you are wondering where to watch it on OTT, then as per a Filmibeat report, Kingston will be streaming on Zee5 after its theatrical run concludes.
In the coastal village of Thoovathur, near Thoothukudi, fishing is banned, even though the villagers depend on the sea for their income. People say the sea is cursed, and any fisherman who goes out there never returns. Kingston, a local fisherman, works for Thomas, the powerful leader of a smuggling ring. Kingston finds out he¡¯s been unknowingly smuggling drugs instead of sea cucumbers.
When a young man named Benjamin is killed during a chase with the coast guard, Kingston starts questioning his involvement with Thomas. Things take a darker turn when Kingston¡¯s girlfriend, Divya, is kidnapped. To save her, Kingston sets out into the cursed waters, where he uncovers long-hidden truths about his grandfather¡¯s past and the wrongful blaming of an innocent man named Bose.
The Times of India rated the film 2.5 out of 5 and a part of their review read, ¡°Nothing deflates a seafaring horror faster than skeletons that can¡¯t seem to skeletonize anyone¡ªleaving Kingston adrift in unnecessarily stormy narrative waters. The sound design is deafening, with non-stop soundtrack cues that desperately try to manufacture epicness. Perhaps the most haunting thing about Kingston isn¡¯t its spirits but the glimpses of what it could have been.¡±
Directed by debutant Kamal Prakash, Kingston is produced by G. V. Prakash Kumar himself under the banner of Parallel Universe Pictures alongside Bhavani Sre and Umesh KR Bansal (Zee Studios).
